Project Description
TOMCAT
Offshore Tullio Abbate 27 (8 meters)
The TOMCAT takes its name from American supersonic fighter planes. Originally powered by two 300 HP petrol engines, it could reach over 50 knots. But with speed limited on the Seine, it was the first electric-powered boat on the river in 2008.
The original technology was based on lead batteries, but this is now outdated with the arrival of more effective lithium batteries. Changing batteries (2 pods of 10KW each), which also requires a certain number of components to be changed, is currently being studied. Its commissioning is planned for 2020.
